Time zone: Canberra
Reminder: 1 hour before
Ends: 11:00 (duration is about 1 hour)

We are seeking your attendance to a rally in support of the ACT club industry.

Our Club is a major beneficiary of the support and funding from Ainslie Group and any changes to laws that has implications to this support is of major concern.

As you may be aware, ACT clubs have been subject to ever increasing fees, charges and taxes in addition to one of the most restrictive regulatory environments in Australia. Last year’s Public Accounts Committee Inquiry was an abject failure and was quickly followed by announcement of support for Aquis to expand Canberra Casino.

With this decision the government has now effectively approved taking $20 million from clubs, all to benefit an off-shore owner and their shareholders.

This has serious implications for the ongoing funding of sporting and community organisations.

There has been no community consultation to date on the casino and it remains within the secret unsolicited bids process.

If this decision is finalised, it will be final straw for many clubs.

With this in mind, we are seeking as many representatives as possible to attend the event in club apparel to show your support for our great clubs.

The event details are:

Your Canberra Clubs Rally
Friday 23 September
10.00am – 11.00am
Raiders Belconnen Oval, 155 Hardwick Crescent, Holt

There will be a sausage sizzle provided for all attendees with the chance to win a Signed 2016 Raiders Jersey as a lucky door prize.

We understand that the timing of the event is not ideal, however, for this event to be a success we will need to have as many people attending as possible. The media will be invited to attend and your support will be an integral component of the success of the event.

It is our understanding both the ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr and the Opposition Leader Jeremy Hanson have been provided opportunity to make an address at the event.
